Culture wars and political turmoil: What is my responsibility as a Christian?

  • YWAM Brussels 19 Avenue des Celtes Bruxelles, Bruxelles, 1040 Belgium (map)

On the global stage, “Christian values” appear as a source of legitimacy for a variation of policies; from the banning of abortion to cracking down on immigration. According to Jesus, what does a righteous world look like? Does the exhibition of “Christian values” on the global political scene impact how I view my responsibility as a Christian in shaping politics?

Speaker: Jeff Fountain

We’re thrilled to announce that Jeff Fountain, Director of the Schuman Centre for European Studies, will be joining us this Friday!

Jeff is a New Zealander living in Amsterdam, where he leads the Schuman Centre, an organisation dedicated to exploring Europe’s past, present, and future from a biblical perspective. He has spent decades working across the continent, including twenty years as European Director of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), and has spoken in nearly every European country.

A historian and passionate communicator, Jeff writes a weekly blog at www.weeklyword.eu and has authored several books, including Living as People of Hope and Deeply Rooted.

We are so happy to have him with us at the first Zebr City Hub event in Brussels.

About Zebr City Hubs:

Since its birth in 2021, the Zebr Institute has focused on empowering faith-driven young leaders and young adults to shape society for the common good, inspired by the principles of Jesus. This means having the mindset of servanthood, working for the good of all and not just for a few, and it increasingly means being entrepreneurial-minded, as the pace of change continues to grow.

Zebr City Hubs intend to gather people across generations to discuss current issues and those we face in the years to come, in a salon-style and to allow friendships to grow. The first city hub event was organized in Oslo, Norway in August 2025, Brussels being the second city to launch. The intention is to organise 2-4 events a year.

We look forward to see you there!
