Inspire. Shape. Empower.
The Zebr Institute is a think tank and do tank based on Christian democratic political thought and historic, classical Christian values. We work to shape the leaders and ideas of tomorrow, addressing current and future issues with long-term thinking.
Working cross-generationally, the Zebr Institute is continually being built to platform the next generation society builders from across Europe, as we inspire, empower and champion them to take responsibility for the future of our continent.
The Zebr Institute is network-based and currently present in Bergen, Berlin and Brussels.
Focus areas:
Zebr Faith & Work: We equip both individuals and organizations to connect their faith to meeting societal needs, re-imagining how faith can be a positive force for building societies of human flourishing, as it has been in the past.
Zebr European Leadership Program: Through an eight-month journey with three in-person encounters, we empower and equip 15 participants annually to build character and integrity, find their vocational identity and meaning for work and to think and act couragously and entrepreneurially to contribute to building society for the common good.
Zebr Future: We equip and produce content, joining other good forces in creating new solutions to some of the ongoing and future challenges of Europe. Our current focus is on improving Europe´s innovation capability to create more jobs in the future, and to renew both how democracies engage with citizens and renew trust in democracy itself.

Daniel Rydland Bjåen
I love to work with people who wants to see a change — and feel the pressure that comes with it. With a master’s degree in sport psychology and theological studies in my backpack, I’m curious about what happens when performance, meaning, and responsibility are allowed to belong together. I’ve been part of starting several things: church planting, building a mastery arena for young people’s mental health, and launching a practice in performance psychology. Some things have worked. Some have been costly. All of it has taught me that ideas matter, but people matter more. Alongside my involvement in Zebr, I work with Hauge Business Network and run a small private practice where I coach leaders and founders. Often, the work is less about performing more, and more about becoming whole enough to endure. I value curiosity, growth, generosity, and quality. I’m driven by a desire to release potential in people — not for personal glory, but for the good of others.

Lucas Boström
Initiative-driven, compassionate, and enthusiastic, with a strong desire to learn and a deep passion for developing people and concepts that promote Kingdom values. Married to Ramona, and currently pursuing studies in HR, organizational psychology, and leadership. A graduate of Zebr’s European Leadership Program (2024–2025), which has fostered a strong belief in the vision and mission of Zebr Institute.
How it all began:
“We should start a family company”. Dad (Hermund) brought the idea to the dinner table one cloudy day in October during that pandemic year of 2020. Linn agreed, as it would be a great way to do something together as a family - that everyone felt ownership to. “We should call it Zèbre”, was the immediate response of Jakob August (5). A lover of animals, and especially the Zebra, he thought the french pronunciation he had found in a children`s book was the coolest. Thus, Zebr.xyz was born. (Sorry France, we chipped away the e…) When we found an african painter-friend selling a painting of a mother zebra and foal two days later, the plan was fixed.
“Zebra companies are characterized by doing real business, not aiming to disrupt current markets, achieving profitability and demonstrating it for a while, and helping to solve a societal problem. As explained by Mara Zepeda, CEO and co-founder of Switchboard, zebra companies "are both black and white": They are for-profit and for a cause.” The quote is from an article on social entrepreneurs by Entrepreneur.com from November 2018.
We thought that was splendid. Perfect match. That´s what we´d like to contribute to see more of - entrepreneurs, not only in business but across all sectors of society - who not only think about profits or success but on the common good.
Based on our core family - but extending to include many more as we grow - we want to continue to ignite change and through that, shape the future.
Zebr consist of the non-profit association Zebr, from where we organize our purely non-profit activities as well as the for-profit social entrepreneurial consulting company Zebr. Both are registered in Norway.
